Turning into a Beijing sheep

I was in Beijing with my dad some years ago and there is a permanent memory engraved in my mind. It was a freezing day and my Michelin-man coat became my bestie. Dad and I were standing on a random street watching masses of people go in a door and down an escalator which seemingly went into the ether. Noone was coming out but plenty were going in. They didn’t look like crazed music fans or frantic bargain shoppers but like a production line were calmly getting on and going down… Of course dad and I lined up to be some more sheep to find out what was at the end of the road.
DUMPLINGS.

These fluffy steamed sensations have been written up a lot especially since Sydney was graced with the famous Din Tai Fung of which I now sit outside waiting for my take away order. I could eat 50 in one go as I did those years ago in my sheep moment and probably go back for some more. No, I’m not a greedy goop just can never get enough. Can’t wait to eat and savour the first bite today.
Baa… yum
